Wings Wings and More Wings. That was my son’s answer when I asked what I should make for the “W” day in the A to Z challenge. “So obvious mom!” he said with a silly grin. What wasn’t obvious was what type of wings I should make. I have already blogged about 5 other types of wings I have made (see bottom of this post) and didn’t want to repeat. Wow… that’s about 5% of my posts so far! Well, we settled on Cocoa Cola Wings. Yes I know…. It sounds strange, but they are pretty sticky good. (lots of napkins needed)
After viewing a few recipes online I decided to try Manuela’s from ManusMenus version of coco cola wings which she adapted from Veronica’s MyCatholicKitchen.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs. chicken wings
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 tbsp dry sherry or rice wine
- 1 cup Coca-Cola
- Chopped chives for garnish
Directions
- Put chicken wings in a ziplock bag with half of the soy sauce
- Massage bag to insure the wings are all covered
- Marinate for 15 to 30 minutes
- Heat large pan or wok with vegetable oil
- Place wings in pan and cook wings until golden brown on both sides (about 4 minutes per side)
- Mix rest of soy sauce with sherry or rice wine and 1 cup Coca-Cola
- Pour over chicken
- Bring to a simmer and cook 20 minutes until liquid cooks down to a glaze
- Remove chicken, plate and garnish with chives

Wow, I didn’t know you can do that! Awesome food.
Neither did I until I searched for new wing recipes!`
Totally on my list! My oldest is suddenly really “into” wings (probably listening to his Dad over the years order them at restaurants). Actually, each of the ones you listed are on my list. Thanks for being my new wing resource! I think I’ll ask my son which one we should try out first. 😉
I find it funny that my son is in to wings. He prefers the spicy ones – but is happy to try any of them. We have a few more that we are experimenting with – that I will post as well.
Let me know which ones you make!
Oh my your wings look fabulous. I can see where you need plenty of napkins.
Thanks veronica! Great recipe!
Yum! Great collection of wings. It makes me want to have a wings potluck party where everyone brings an oven proof dish of marinated wings over and we put them all in the oven one after another until they’re all gone.
What a great idea! I didn’t even realize how many wings I had posted – until I looked. I have a few more up my sleeve to post – so stay tuned!
